The 1950 Census is set to be released by the National Archives on April 1, and it will be indexed like no other previous release. Ancestry will use machine learning algorithms and AI handwriting recognition technology to create the initial index. FamilySearch volunteers will then verify this index. You will be able to make the experience more personal by being able to target your indexing efforts by either surname or location.
FamilySearch is encouraging the use of this indexing project
as an activity for wards and stakes across the United States.

The indexing will be conducted on the new FamilySearch Get Involved app available for both android and Apple devices.
